Charmed MySQL enters General Availability

Nov 6th, 2024:  Today Canonical announced the release of Charmed MySQL, an enterprise solution that helps you secure and automate the deployment, maintenance and upgrades of your MySQL databases across private and public clouds.

MySQL is one of the world’s most popular databases. MySQL’s simple deployment model and ease of use make it the default choice for many developers. MySQL is the M in the popular LAMP architecture that powers most web applications today.

Security and support for Charmed MySQL can be purchased with an Ubuntu Pro subscription.  An Ubuntu Pro subscription provides up to 10 years of security maintenance not only for MySQL server but also for some of the most popular MySQL plugins and tools, such as xtrabackup and audit logging. Customers can also opt for 24/7 or weekday support with Ubuntu Pro + Support. Conveniently, the subscription is priced per node, not per app. This means users can benefit from a complete portfolio of data solutions with a predictable pricing model.

Canonical provides secure and supported MySQL packages in various packaging formats. These include deb packages for a seamless integration with your Ubuntu installations, OCI-compliant images for your containerized environment, and snaps for added confinement and atomic updates on all major Linux distributions.
